SIGN UP DATES/TIMELINE –

December 15th, 2023 – Runners who qualify for an early entry (including 2023 runners who rolled into this year’s race) will receive an email with registration details by this date.  If you believe you qualify and don’t receive an email, reach out to the RD.

December 15-22nd, 2023 – Registration is open for runners who qualify for an early entry.

January 1-18th, 2024 – Lottery registration will open for anyone who does not qualify for an early registration.

January 20, 2024 (3pm EST) – We will host a live lottery via Zoom.  A link to join will be emailed to everyone registered for the lottery as well as all past participants.

ENTRY PROCESS

Entry process for the 2024 event is as follows:

Early Registration

Participants can qualify for early registration through any of six criteria:

  1. 4+ Vermont 100 mile finishes in the past 8 editions (100 mile race only) OR 4+ Vermont 100 km finishes in the past 8 editions (100k race only)
  2. Overall podium in the past 2 Vermont 100s (for the distance they podiumed only, to be used once for an early registration)
  3. Aid station captains or their designee (each club that adopts an aid station can designate one runner for early entry)
  4. Athletes with Disabilities
  5. “Local Supporters” (race committee members, VT100 course land owners, etc.)
  6. Runners who have completed both the Vermont 100 mile run and Vermont 100 mile ride.

Runners who qualify for early registration will receive an email with their early registration code by December 15th and must enter during the early registration period.  If you believe you qualify and don’t receive a lottery bypass code, follow up with the RD between December 15th and 20th, 2023.

*For 2024 only, early registration will also include runners who rolled their entry over from 2023. Please note that all runners must meet the 2024 qualifying standards, including the window to run a qualifier.

General Registration

General registration will be via lottery, as follows:

  • Runners will be allowed to enter lottery either individually or with a buddy (i.e. either you both get in or you don’t).
  • All names entered will be pulled, either for the race or to place them on the waitlist in the order pulled.
  • Runners may only enter the lottery once – so sign up for the distance you prefer to run.  If you are found to have entered the lottery for both the 100k and 100 mile distance, both entries will be removed from the lottery.
  • New this year – we are not capping registration for the different distances, we are instead capping the event total at 450 runners.  This means there will be one lottery and one waitlist for all runners.  *This will allow runners to change their entered distance through June 1, 2024.

VT100 periodically updates a complete list of entrants.  These lists will show the start list and waitlist for the 2024 Vermont 100:

WAITLIST

After the races fill, you may enter the wait list here. As runners withdraw from the race, the top waitlisted runner will automatically be moved into the race and their credit card charged race fees.  It is up to those on the waitlist to remove themselves prior to being pulled into the race if they are no longer interested in running.

RUNNER WITHDRAWAL

  • Please complete this form to officially withdraw your entry (from the start list and from the waitlist).
  • Runners are eligible for a partial refund of 70% if prior to May 1, and 50% if prior to June 1. *So long as there is a runner on the waitlist to take your spot.
  • Runners who are roll-over participants from the 2023 VT100 are eligible for refund of the portion of entry fee they paid in 2024, based on the formula above (i.e. 70% of the entry fee due in 2024 if prior to May 1st).
  • Runners are allowed to ‘swap distances’ or ‘drop down’ in distance through July 1, 2024.
  • VT100 does NOT defer or transfer entries.

Requirements

RACE QUALIFIERS

All 2024 100-mile entrants must complete a qualifying race.  *Note that virtual events will not count as qualifiers.

Qualifiers include:

  • Complete a 50-mile race in under 12 hours (after 01/01/2023)
  • Complete a 100-km race in under 16 hours (after 01/01/2023)
  • Complete a 100-mile race in under 30 hours (after 07/15/2022)

Any legitimate in-person timed event is acceptable (virtual events will NOT be accepted).  Alternative race distances (greater than 50 miler) may be submitted to the RD for consideration, as long as they are consistent with the standards above. There is no list of qualifier races.

There is no qualifier to run in our 100-kilometer race.

RACE QUALIFIER SUBMISSION DEADLINE

SERVICE REQUIREMENTS

All 100-mile and 100-kilometer runners must complete at least 8 hours of volunteer service to the greater running community.

Service must be completed within 15 months of the race (after May 1, 2023).

Volunteer service includes:

  • Volunteering at a trail, ultra, or road running events
  • Volunteering for an adaptive sports program
  • Completing maintenance on a running or community trail

Crewing and pacing does not count toward the volunteer requirement.
